Lady Issues

BBC3 documentary Music Money and Hip Hop Honeys (still a week to watch it here), caused quite the stir investigating the world of video girls, trending on Twitter for 2 whole days to mixed reports.

Props to the host, Nel Hedayat I'm her newest fan! I can't find any more info or a Twitter page for her so hit me up if you have any. Theres many a presenter claiming they want to be the next Louis Theroux, but I thought she pulled it off with integrity and aplomp putting her stamp all over this baby.

Whatever you make of the ladies who strip off and gyrate alongside our fave rappers, it's definitely worth a watch. If women in the hip hop industry is your bag baby, you might wanna feast your eyes on the BET doc My Mic Sounds Nice which explores the history and some of the issues surrounding female mc's...

Gender portrayal is a topic thats been on my mind alot recently, weather its because I'm the only girl in the SB.TV team or just wiseing up with age to the portrayal of my lady shaped sisters in the media. I even interviewed the same equality expert as BBC3, Julia Long and infiltrated some feminist meetings for an article I wrote for uni on the gender pay gap...a pretty sorry state of affairs let me tell you.

Anyways, I thought Maverick Sabre's track he performed for Mistajam, What I've Done was a really insightful and beautiful comment from a guy on issues a lady can find herself facing, have a peek at him in session...

Plus this topic gave me a good excuse to post a new pic from MY lady obsession Nicki Minaj's V photoshoot, more pics here and Ellen interview here- what a woman!
