So it turns out it's not just being silly on the internet that I've spent my time of late doing. I've also been putting my time at London College of Fashion and market stall experience of yesteryear to good use and co-designed SBTV's first ever ladies t-shirts along side James. Went for a couple of cropped numbers, and after going through every single f64 settled for one of my fave lyrics "hold tight the world," from Chipmunk. They just hit the SBTV clothing store, and why not feast your eyes on some cheeky snaps from the shoot we did courtesy of my fellow styling partner in crime for the day and SBTV editor Lily Mercer. Lots more design ideas where they came from too...

Lazy Oaf

My latest garment obsessions come from tongue-in-cheek clothing providers Lazy Oaf, huge fan of their bright and humorous work I was lucky enough to recieve some goodies recently. Feast your eyes on my fave bits of theirs below- particularly crushing on the water melon skirt, too good. They also do very cool accessories which have been providing some quirky and original prezzies for my pals of late, you can see more on their site here.

Style crushing

So occassionally I get comments on the randomness of my sporadic fashion related posts on here- while these are not 100% unwarranted, this blog is really a reflection of me, what I've been up to and what I'm feeling and if the truth be told much of my time online is spent wasting time researching the latest garment offerings from around the world and so share with you I will my pretties! I've had this blog for a while, and its taken me some time to really get into it, recently I've decided to just stop over thinking everything (a difficult feat for me if you know me well!) and just blog away and so without further ado I bring you my unapologetic style crushes...

First up is a leather skirt which I thought I'd never be feeling, and even more stangely is gracing Gabriella Cilmi at V festival, who no offence to her I'm not really a fan of. Remove the belt, and maybe with a different top and I think we've got fierce little bum coverer in the house!

A couple more quality findings come from high street fave River Island, sometimes one that you really have to root through. Loving this tongue-in-cheek ring for a bit of quack-ability to an outfit...

...and on a not entirely dissimilar vibe this leopard bag has the cheeky factor alright. Grrr its a bit of an animal, have to watch it dosn't eat ya purse *cue bail of hay*

Icy grandeur in gay parie...

Now not to get all fabulous daarling but after having a gander at whats cracking at Paris fashion week I wanted to share my pick of Rick Owen's latest offerings. His style generally draws up inevitable comparisons with the Dalston king of darkness Gareth Pugh, but this season seemed more forward thinking and wearable instead of the "I'm a scary goth" vibes him and the Pugh normally roll with.

Futuristic without being spacey and styled suitably unrealistically for day-to-day happenings (well, this is the catwalk love) it was just screeaming with fierce arctic minimalizism. Ok, not sure about minimalising the skirts soo much they're barely pum coverers, but the whole Lady Gaga meets David Bowie in the North Pole and travels by conveyor belt to a cube shaped Macdonald's thing really worked for him.

My faves were: the incredible open toe boots in black and grey, pointing towards heaven and crinkled unapologeticically with foot covering joy, the tissue-esque long grey coat, leather jackets with star angled collars, not to mention the one sided asymettrical wide collared business going down on that black dress! Fiercely ridiculous i tell thee...

Am I crazy? Ok I'm not sure about the shoulder details and I can feel myself succumbing to a passing fad (cropped military jackets anyone?!)but...I LOVE this! The cheeky denim take on a leather cut, perfectly black for winter, the dressup/ down adaptability; just take me now you dirty zippy over coat yoou!



Ok I'm chilling my beans now, you can get yours at River Island, where I'm also pondering the black and white fur coat, and longer grey number below. I just dunno, is the black and white too out there for an everyday affair? Does that black broach thing come off? And is that grey coat too damn generic anyhoo? DELIBERATIONS eh!

High tops & lady like charm? Enter Nike glads...

Finally Nike have recognized my familiar struggle of sporty cool vs. clumpy feet when choosing what shoes to wear. Especially with skirts I'll often loose the high tops in favour of a more flattering foot coverer (compensating with a bit more fake gold never goes a miss) but thanks to these exciting offerings we need never worry again. Although some of my girls aren't convinced my elation over these is truly warranted, and I know it might not be prime sandal time seeing that autumn cardi's are on the horizon, I say gimme the black pair, some tights a gold marker and I'm ready for A/W 09 baby! Swap your garms and save those golden nuggests; style on a budget #1

Clothes swapping events are booming as fashionistas are exchanging garments with pals and strangers in response to the credit crunch and heightened eco awareness.

Swapping fever is sweeping the cash strapped fashion conscious with organized swaps taking place in cities across the UK and like those who attend them, are coming in all shapes and sizes. Private parties, swaps at local pubs, ‘eco-glam’ events (complete fizzy pop of course), exclusive designer label only bashes, guerrilla style swaps in busy areas, websites dedicating themselves to connecting unworn clothes to new owners and even a cheeky club nights where revellers swap apparel on the sound of a klaxon. Phew!

“I saw it happening in New York and thought it would work really well here. It’s really the response to the ‘Primark Effect’ that has seen us bulk buying clothes we wear once and then bin" said Lori Wiechec, co-founder of Hybird a company that pioneered clothes swapping in the UK in 2007.

In light of the credit crunch sales of couture and designer basics are actually showing increased profits. Combined with the clothes swapping boom this shows a gentle backlash to discount retailers occurring, especially in light of the apparent sweatshop conditions and low quality of garments they provide.
“Most people can’t afford to pay modern designers prices for good quality but loads of people have wonderful unworn pieces they can bring to swaps” said Lucy Wills who recently organized a recent flash mob style clothes swap outside Top Shop in Oxford Circus. “Apart from anything it builds really great communities and connects you with new people around you”.

Lucy founded the company We All Reuse to raise awareness of the fashion industries wastefulness and promote clothes swaps. To date she’s worked with Camden Council, Friends of the Earth and The Big Issue and today is keeping very hush-hush about a potential high street store collaboration in the pipeline. With Girls Aloud’s Nadine and Nicola recently admitting being partial to a clothes exchange and the credit crunch refusing to blow over, it looks like she’s on to a good thing.

Picked up some bargain ten quid Stradivarius high waisters from the never ending goldmine that is NW6 TRAID, having hips and a bootay was a bit unsure how to work them but after playing around on polyvore i'm not only forefitting buff cafe sandwhiches at uni for this obama vest- only £12 at cafepress! But i'm going to bed depressed in the knowledge that I'll never get my grubby mitts on that YSL bag! What dyu reckon? The cardi's pretty zany!

Green Trousers?

The charity shop Traid in sunny Kilbs are having a £2 sale and am contemplating picking up a pair of green trousers I spied in there (I know they're only two quid but am on a tragic student budget here!). Wasn't quite sure how I'd pull off the brightly coloured badboys (they're more the waisted cotton trousers on the left than the skinnies in the main pic) but after creating this on polyvore reckon I might just be hot footing it back down there. Am only just learning to accept my sight deffinciency so threw the specs in for real life practical use.
